Parish Twinning

It is the primary purpose of the Twinning Committee to foster the spiritual, cultural and humanitarian relationship between Transfiguration Parish and our sister church, Reina de la Paz in Soyapango, El Salvador. The Twinning Program has given the parishioners and children of Transfiguration the opportunity to get to know their brothers and sisters in El Salvador. As they discover first hand information about life and conditions in a 3rd world country, they are uplifted by the incredible spirit and optimism of its people. Through scholarships and other programs, the Twinning Program provides an experience for parishioners and others to realize how sharing just a few dollars can make a difference in the future of a child by making it possible for that child to attend school. For information contact Ted Sohn at 631-4596.

Midnight Run

helping the homeless

Each month Transfiguration joins with other Hudson Valley churches to help feed and clothe New York City's homeless. Meals, toiletries, and winter coats are donated mainly through the efforts of students of the parochial school. The donations are distributed, once a month on Friday evenings, to the less fortunate who live on the streets, in cardboard boxes, in doorways, or over stream grates. Any member of the parish is welcome to come along. This unique experience means so much to the homeless and is a very fulfilling experience to the volunteer. The contact person is Doug Zollo.

Senior Outreach

helping seniors

This program helps parishioners who are homebound, or in nursing homes, main- tain their connection with the parish. Vol- unteers make contact with the parishioners through visits, by mail, or by telephone. Volunteers might also assist in arranging for Communion, or doing light chores. They might also help by providing transportation for light shopping, or running errands. Contact the Priory at 631-1672.

St. Vincent De Paul

preparing food for the poor

The basic role of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul is to assist those in need regardless of religious affiliation. The Society relies on monthly collections of food, financial contributions, and various gifts such as clothing and furniture. Members meet monthly, or as often as the need arises, to perform these services.
