Finance Committe
Every parish is required by Canon Law to have a Finance Committee. The members are appointed by the Pastor, and are usually selected based on their skills or experience in management or financial issues. They are selected from the Parish community, and there must be at least three members.
The Finance Committee serves as an advisor to the Pastor on the financial management of the Parish, helping in the preparation of the annual budgets for both the Church and the School, tracking progress against those budgets, and assisting in the preparation of the Annual Report to parishioners
on the financial status of the Church and the School. The Finance Committee also reviews all "extraordinary" expenditures, such as those for emergency repairs and maintenance. It also prepares notices for the Bulletin about the financial state of the Parish, and members may speak to parishioners
from the pulpit on these matters, should the need arise. The Finance Committee also recommends periodic fundraising campaigns, again should these be deemed necessary by the committee in consultation with the Pastor. The Finance Committee also reports its current activities to the Parish Council
for their input. It meets as required, at a minimum once every two months.
In the past 2 years, the Finance Committee here at Transfiguration assisted in encouraging all parishioners to increase their contributions, due to anticipated shortfalls in the budget caused by a sharp increase in administrative expense and certain emergency repairs. It also worked with the Pastor in planning and carrying out a Capital Campaign to cover the costs of some past, as well as anticipated, repairs, improvements and maintenance of our Church and School buildings. While several of the projects funded by the Campaign have been completed, our objective is to carry out the remaining projects during the next few years. We continue to encourage our fellow Parishioners to maintain the increased level of their regular contributions and to meet their Campaign pledges.
The current members of the Finance Committee here at Transfiguration are: Father Lucian, Audrey Woods, Alice Casey, Kevin Plunkett, William Krajeski, Terence McGlynn, Susan Facciola and David Cartenuto. In addition, our lay trustees, Tom Finn and Elaine Smith, regularly attend our meetings.
Any questions or inquiries should be directed to this Committee through the Priory at 631-1672.
